Scientific Origin of Soup
Creation of SOUP

It is very unclear when soup was created, but evidence traces it back to 20,000 BC. Before boiling was a common cooking technique, we used animal hides and watertight baskets of bark or reeds as a bowl and to contain the almighty soup within.​
The Word of SOUP

The word soup comes from the French SOUPE which means soup
or broth. That comes from Vulgar Latin, from a Germanic source, SUPPA, which means "bread soaked in broth." from which also comes the word SOP, a piece of bread used to soak up soup or a thick stew.

Commercial SOUP
​
With the invention of canning in the 19th Century, commercial Soup became very popular. One of best and most well-known Soup companies being Campbell. One of their chemist, Doctor John T. Dorrance, invented Condensed Soup. This allowed Soup to be packaged into a smaller can and sold at a lower price . Campbell's 3 most popular Soups in America are Cream of Mushroom, Chicken Noodle, and tomato.
